Game Lab Summer Institute — UCLA
Three-week residential game-making institute at UCLA for high-school students aged 15 to 18, running 12 to 29 July 2026. The program treats game-making as an artistic practice and takes students through four hands-on courses covering game design fundamentals, character creation, world building and programming, ending with game art they can put in a college application portfolio and four units of pass/no-pass UC credit. No previous game-making skills are required and the courses are taught by UCLA Game Lab alumni. Housing is supervised including weekends, with breakfast and dinner provided. UCLA also runs a virtual version from 22 June to 9 July; only the in-person residential session is listed here. Registration, course and institutional fees and the international-student insurance fee are charged on top of the program fee.
