UCLA Summer Precollege Focus Series — Engineering Design

UCLA Summer Sessions runs three weeks of hands-on engineering design in tracks such as Go-Karts, microcontrollers, rovers and rockets, supervised by UCLA faculty and mentored by UCLA undergraduates, ending in a written report and a presentation of results. It carries UCLA credit. Every Summer Precollege Focus Series program is commuter-only and UCLA states plainly that NO HOUSING is provided — a family sending a student from abroad has to arrange accommodation and supervision separately. Participants must be at least 15 by 22 June 2026 and enrolled in grades 9-12. The program fee shown is the published high-school-student rate; the registration, IEI and document fees are charged on top and are listed separately here. A separate track runs 13-31 July at the Science Academy STEM Magnet in North Hollywood at a total published cost of USD 3,002 inclusive of all fees. Enrolment for summer 2026 is closed; 2027 dates and fees are not yet published.
